Plant/Body

When I got my camera earlier this year, I began with shooting nature photography. I wasn’t very confident behind the camera, but I had so much fun finding creative ways to photograph all the plants and wildlife around me. In taking ‘Introduction to Photography’, however, I’ve become much more comfortable using my DSLR and have acquired a better understanding of how to work with lighting to get the shot I want. Additionally, I’ve come to really enjoy portraiture, an area that I was both unfamiliar with and intimidated by. For my final project, I wanted to create a series that captures my progression in photography by incorporating elements of nature and portraiture using the skills I’ve learned from this course.

For this series, I was inspired by Robert Mapplethorpe, Harry Callahan, and Ansel Adams.
