Project 2 – Different, Not Less

For this project I wanted to dive into the neurological disorder called associative visual agnosia. People who suffer with visual agnosia are not able to recognize and identify objects, persons, or sounds even though their senses function normally. They can see objects, but cannot put meaning to them. To represent this disorder, I created a painting that depicts a bedside table that has a mushroom on it. The mushroom is supposed to be a lamp, but because people with visual agnosia cannot identify objects, one might think that a lamp is a mushroom.
