During Dr. Lauren Richmonds talks with the class. I thought it was really interesting how she discussed cognitive offloading and memory. After listening to Dr. Richmond I went onto her website for her lab to go more into depth of what she was talking to the class about. It was very interesting.
Two topics brought up with Dr. Richmond was cognitive offloading and different aspects of memory. While going through her website I found more information about cognitive offloading. Cognitive offloading is actions people do to remember things for example writing down information and coming back to it later and doing memory exercises that will help you remember. Dr. Richmonds lab does testing and research on how cognitive offloading works and how it affects younger and older people’s memory with memory based tasks.
Another topic Dr. Richmond discussed and I read more on her website was about memory and how we as humans remember “similar but different” information. In Dr. Richmonds lab they do research on how age can affect how people can process this “similar but different” information and how it affects their memory.
It was really interesting to listen to Dr. Richmonds talk about her research and her lab. I find it very interesting that in her field she is discovering new information and research based on memory and is able to dig deep into different aspects of the brain regarding memory and age. Before this talk with Dr. Richmond I didn’t know what cognitive offloading was and I thought it was really interesting on how we as humans can use it everyday and how it works with our memories and how we process information.
