About Me

Welcome to my page! My name is Marina Fandaros and I am currently a 4th year Ph.D. candidate in biomedical engineering at Stony Brook University. I am finishing my graduate studies as and am an alumni of the Stony Brook undergraduate and masters biomedical engineering program.

I have had a wide range of research internships and experiences ranging from nuclear physics to agriculture to blood flow analysis. As an undergraduate student I had research experience in measuring thrombin formation rates.. My masters research was focused on blocking the cell signaling pathway responsible for edema. I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. to enhance the field of cardiovascular disease research by creating models of arterial plaque and how they form.

I previously served a peer tutor in organic chemistry and a Lead Tutor at Stony Brook University’s Academic Success and Tutoring Center.

Outside of the classroom, you’d most likely find me on my yoga mat, on the volleyball court, making a painting, or out on a hike.
