2019 STEM Program Coordinator for the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County, NY
I have had the pleasure of assisting local groups bring STEM to their troop meetings. I have lead Cadette Girl Scouts (grades 6-8) complete activities such as DNA extraction from strawberries using household chemicals. I give them an introduction to what a scientist does every day and some introductory knowledge to hopefully spark their passion for STEM. I provide girls and their parents with information on local and national science fairs with the hopes that they wish to participate in the near future. I have also mentored Ambassador Scouts (grades 10-12) on different STEM majors and how to pursue them.
