Final Project: Self-Defined
Swinging High and Low (2023) depicts borderline personality disorder through numerous facial expressions in a collaged format. Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a mental health condition that involves extreme mood swings lasting hours to days, difficulty controlling emotions, and feeling uncertainty about how they see themselves. Some emotions include stress, uncomforting disgust, intense happiness, intense anger, fear, shame, anxiety, irritability, and depression. In this large array of mood swings and personality changes, I showcased numerous emotions through digital drawings of myself in multiple colors to play into a lost sense of self and misunderstanding of emotions. All of these emotions surround a neutral/empty portrait of me to play onto the unknown of feelings and the quick switches between emotions. They all represent the same individual but are different in expression and color to play in misunderstanding
