Something Neuro

Created by artists Dr. Greg Dunn and Dr. Brian Edwards, the reflective micro-etched artwork Brain Machine Interface (2018) seeks to explore the complexity of the brain and its chaotic neural network. It sparks curiosity about the future outlook of our brains in the ever-growing era of technology. I’ve always been fascinated with the idea that neurons and the brain are similar in design to a motherboard or a computer, and this artwork goes to show the intertwining concepts between technology and our brains. The image shows a shocked feminine presenting figure with their mouth ajar, with the top portion of the artwork encompassed in circuit wires and the bottom filled with striking neurons. The brain is a powerful organ, evoking both astonishment and danger from within. Technology has had the ability to be even more complex and prosperous than brains, potentially deeming humans as entities of lesser ability than machines.
