Open Source Projects
We are strong supporters of the use of open source software and hardware for scientific research. These projects are valuable because they provide insight into exactly how research results are generated, which propriety approaches tend to obscure. In addition, these projects encourage students to think creatively about the process of performing experiments rather than relying exclusively on canned solutions.
We have a 3D printer and a mill in the laboratory for fabrication as well as a well equipped electronics bench. We have a Linux cluster for software development.
