Bartender, Hotoke Japanese Steak House, Smithtown NY, June 2015 – August 2016
Being a bartender is a high-pressured job. It’s demanding and taxing. I had to serve a variety of drinks (cocktails, martinis, wine, beers) quickly and efficiently without spilling drinks or breaking glasses. I had to get those drinks to my customers within a timely fashion. I also had to place food orders and serve those orders to the customers at my bar. I had to do all of this while being entertaining, focusing on small talk and smiling constantly.
While taking care of my customers, I had to maintain the beverage inventories within the liquor closet as well as at my bar. I needed to handle cash and credit card transactions by using a P.O.S. system, and I had to always make sure my station was clean.
Team Member, Dunkin’ Donuts, Richmond RI, September 2014 – March 2015
Working at Dunkin’ Donuts taught me how to be patient and work as a team. Everything and everybody had to run smoothly for the customers to get their order within a certain timeframe. I served the customers by taking their orders, handling their cash and/or credit card transactions by using a P.O.S. system, making their drink order, as well as their food order, and passing it along to them with a smile on my face.
My responsibilities included: handling the customers at the drive thru window, taking orders and inputting them into the system, restocking cups, straws, and other necessities, making sure the donut case was always filled, cleaning behind the counter, as well as the main lobby and bathrooms, taking out trash and maintaining the parking lot, and closing down the store for the night.
