Multidisciplinary Program

  • SOC 340 – Sociology of Human Reproduction – Explore the connection between biological reproduction, the socioeconomic and cultural processes that affect and are affected by it.
  • SOC 371 – Gender and Work – Explored the gender differences in workforce participation throughout U.S. history by looking at topics such as historical economic, legal, and social factors affecting employment; career options; and pay equity.
  • HAN 312– Health and Medical Language – Developed a medical vocabulary that applies to clinical scenarios.
  • HAN 251 –  Research Method in Health Science – Studied cases of conflicts and ethics in the health field and Completed an online CITI training in the protection of human subjects.

Women’s Gender and Sexuality Minor

  • WST 392 – Culture of Dis/ability – Exploring the social construction of disability through scientific, medical, legal, moral, political, economic, and cultural discourses. As well as analyzing the intersectionality of disability as mutually constitutive with other socially constructed categories.
  • WST 407 – Minor research seminar – Wrote a research paper on the correlation between LGBTQ* Afro-Caribbean and Vodou which allowed me to developed research and analysis skills.

Health and Wellness Minor

  • LHW 301 – Issues in Health and Wellness –  Focused on general health and wellness issues within someone’s life-span. Hosted a Health fair where I presented on The effect of stress on Emotional Wellness.
  • LHW 488– Internship in Health and Wellness – Focused on Interpersonal Violence (IPV) prevention by creating programs to educate the student population.
  • WRT 304– Writing for your profession –  Explored how to effectively write in a professional context and Created a professional portfolio.
  • WRT 303– Personal Essay – Learned the basic of digital storytelling.
