Welcome to Stony Brook University MSTP Women’s Group page!
We are group of 20 female students in all years of SBU MSTP training, pursuing our goals to become physician scientists.
We recognize that diversity and inclusion are critical to creating a collaborative, creative, and dynamic environment for improved outcomes in both medicine and science. Because these two fields are dedicated to serving the public with every background and identity, diversity and inclusion are particularly important to achieve.
Women represent half of the population, yet the percentage of female faculty members is decreasing with higher ranks. Only 15.8% of permanent department chairs are female. Undoubtedly, women face certain hindrances in achieving higher ranks or leadership positions.

This page is dedicated to bringing insights to latest events and updates on SBU MSTP Women’s Group, and sharing useful and informative resources to Women interested in pursuing a career as physician scientists. We hope to contribute to training women passionate in medicine or science in overcoming hindrances and achieving career and personal goals.
