Stony Brook MSTP Women’s Group is committed to advocate for, support, and educate women in the Medical Scientist Training Program, through building a strong community among students and mentors, and promoting a supportive environment for students to achieve professional and personal goals.

Women’s Group hosts mentorship dinners with successful female role models in science and medicine and social events to build comradery among students. Students are actively engaged in sharing resources and educating one another to overcome barriers in career and personal developments.

Events and activities by our group include:

  • Mentorship dinner with female physicians scientists and faculty members;
  • social nights (movie night, summer beach bbq, etc.);
  • A full-day Communication Workshop for Women in MSTP in collaboration with Alan Alda Center for Communicating Sciences;
  • Implicit bias training for all students.
