Division is the inverse operation of multiplication.
An inverse operation is one that is the opposite of or undoes another operation.
One way for us to model the inverse relationship between multiplication and division is by using an array.
The same array can represent a multiplication fact and its related division fact.
The array is used in different ways to find a product or quotient.
For example, in an array with 3 equal rows of 6, you can write 3 × 6 = 18 or 18 ÷ 3 = 6, depending on the situation.
