We will be learning:

 1. Size and Number of equal groups:

Goals:

• Students will use  models to explore the meaning of partitive (sharing) division.
• Students will  be able to use models to explore the meaning of qualitative division.

 

2. Division with Bar Models

Goals:

• Students will understand the terms dividend, divisor, and quotient.
• Students will model division by using equal groups and bar models.

 

3. Relating Division to Subtraction:

Goals:

• Students will be able to change division sentences into subtraction sentences.
• Students will use a number line to relate subtraction to division.

 

4. Division using Arrays:

Goals:

• Students will be able to model an array for a division problem.
• Students will be able to identify the multiplication fact families within the array.

 

5. Relating Division to Multiplication:

Goals:

• Students will understand the meaning of Inverse Operations.
• Students will use bar models to relate multiplication and division problems as Inverse operations.
• Students will use arrays to relate multiplication and division problems as Inverse operations.

 

6. Writing Related Facts:

Goals:

• Students will understand the terms related facts, factor, and product.
• Students will be able to write related multiplication and division facts.
