(b.1984) Painter turned animator, Jake Fried is an artist who found interest in the way that paintings and images changed overtime. Fried uses mostly ink and correction fluid (white out), as well as sometimes using collage images and even coffee to create his pieces. Each image is then compiled into a stop motion animation that usually runs a minute long.

Fried is known for his often hallucinogenic pieces that create a sense of movement and form through stop motion paper manipulation. Each piece takes months to put together, and is done by hand. Jake Fried uses two dimensional drawings and collage to not only create three dimensional space, but also to give a sense of time and evolution.

Jake Fried’s animations have been shown internationally at events such as the the Tate Modern and the Sundance Film Festival. Fried has also done shorts and intros for Disjointed (Netflix), Harley Davidson, and Adult Swim. Fried currently teaches as an animation professor in Massachusetts.
