PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
by Genie Ruzicka
Cast: Brianna Rodríguez Flores, Luna, Edwin Roman, Nicolas Pennisi & Tolulope Ojo
Project Description
This is a story about a girl on a train; both opening lines and thesis statement. Set in an NYC subway, this fantasy-comedy explores misogyny and sexual harassment mixed with the untapped power of women and femmes to deliver an adventure like no other. Oh, and an (attempted) mummy heist.
Artist Statement
My work is about finding the fantastical in the mundane. When you get stuck in an attic and are inadvertently locked into a battle between heaven and hell. When you find a chipmunk in your kitchen and it starts telling you the meaning of life. My work is life, heightened. It is physical comedy mixed with an impending sense of doom. It is about disemboweling the facade. My work is for the underrepresented and the erased. It aims to show the inside of the type of people you rarely get to see on the outside. My work is what’s inside.
