Project Description

Pareidolia occurs when the mind perceives patterns that are not actually there. In The Pareidolia Effect, Lorelei and Asa reconnect unexpectedly in the midst of a pandemic-induced quarantine. As they converse, addiction, jealousy, and insecurities pervade their dramatic discussion. Where will their encounter from isolation take them?

Artist Statement

I write words into sentences and link sentences into stories. My work explores how people perceive events differently and where the line between reality and fantasy lies. I analyze how the history of the past is impacting the present and imagine how present events will impact the future, whether it be on an interpersonal or international scale. Because of this, identity politics, climate change, and social structures often appear in my work. Expressing my thoughts, concerns, and hope for life gives me a sense of purpose and has taught me the importance of empathy and the value of being respectful.
