“Peter Frunch Sees the Patterns in the People on the Street” is one of the articles by Teju Cole written in New York Times Magazine “On Photography” monthly column. This article is talking about a series of portraits taken at different times but the same person and place by Peter Funch. I really inspired by the concept, it looks artistic and realistic at the same time. I remember when the camera technique first came out, people use it as a documentary tool rather than an art method. After looking on this series of pictures, I realized art and document can exist at the same time. Teju Cole commented on those photos, “Photography can remember for us what we didn’t think or were not able to remember for ourselves.” However, at the same time, it would remind us the beauty of life. Although people getting older and older, wrinkles on our faces recorded the time, it is the meaning of life.
After doing all the research, I decided to start my project with Tourette Syndrome. Tourette Syndrome is a neurological disorder characterized by repetitive, stereotyped, involuntary movements and vocalizations called tics. That may involve repetitive movements or unwanted sounds (tics) that can’t be easily controlled.
I remember a dream I watched before, one of the character inside he has the Tourette Syndrome. He always failed to maintain a relationship because his girlfriends scared by his sudden movement. Especially when he feels shy or nervous about doing some Intimate behavior. In the drama, he tried so hard to control himself. In the end, he found a girl who doesn’t care about the symptoms. So in my project, I want to do a layered picture. One layer is shaking, the other one is steady. The shaking one will be black-and-white, that means their dark side and the side they don’t want. The steady one is the colored one, the side they want and the normal people has.
Usually, I will go home for the weekend, every time I will buy foods and bring clothes from home to school. Here is my journey
The first thing I will do is put all the frozen food or drink into the fridge.
Then, I will start tidying up the clothes I bring from home.
Hanging the jackets and shirts.
Hide all the bags I used to carry stuff into the closet secret corner.
DONE AND START A TOUGH WEEK AGAIN 🙁
