- Rear Admiral Steven K. Galson ’78 Rear Admiral Steven K. Galson ’78, MD, MPH, served as the Acting Surgeon General of the United States from 2007 to 2009. He fondly recalls his undergraduate student years at Stony Brook University. “My time at Stony Brook played a key role in my professional growth,” he said. “The dedication of the faculty and their interest in teaching undergraduates made a huge difference in my ability to grow and learn.” While acting as Surgeon General, Dr. Galson’s job was to communicate the best science, evidence, and data to Americans in order for them to make healthy choices that impact their health, safety and security.
- Charles J. Ruotolo, ’90, is was awarded the designation of “Top Orthopedist on LI” by the Bethpage Best on LI and the Long Island Press. As the chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at Nassau University Medical Center, Dr. Ruotolo is helping to guide the hospital in its revival as a leading center for orthopedic surgery.
