Project title: The Beauty Behind The Lens

Project description:

  • Me and my friends spend a lot of time adventuring around our state. Sometimes we leave the house at the crack of dawn and other times at midnight. We make so many memories on our trips. We are all photographers, and at the end of each trip we all have a handful of amazing photos, but I started to notice little evidence of us in these photos. We document the beauty of the places we go, but we never quite capture the beauty of each other’s company. After this realization, i’ve started this series of portrait photography called  “The beauty behind the lens”, in an attempt to document the undocumented. My goal is to capture the photographers themselves, and the times we have together, to prove that they existed. I plan to continue this series beyond this semester.

Outcomes:

  • A series of 7 images (minimum).
  • Find visually engaging locations and environments.
  • To capture my friends as they capture the world.
  • To make memories.
  • To create evidence that we existed in our own little slice of time.

Methods and materials

  • Method: Take photos of photographers in their natural habitat, immersed in beauty.
  • Materials: Nikon D5300 & Canon T3i
