Perfusion flow chambers with flexible membranes allow researchers to observe and analyze the effects of shear stress and tensile strain on cell cultures under in vivo conditions. The greatest limitation to current systems is that flow chambers are generally constructed as closed systems that allow for more control over these conditions. We hope to achieve a design of an open perfusion flow chamber that provides sufficient, controllable, shear stress and tensile strain on a cell culture.
