Duodopa is a drug that is used to treat later stages of Parkinson’s disease. Duodupa’s use
is for Parkinson’s disease patients that have extreme tremors and involuntary movement [11]. It
is usually only used if other medications were ineffective. Duodupa works by bypassing the
stomach and delivering a continuous infusion of carbidopa-levodopa, into the duodenum, the
first part of the small intestines [11]. Serious side effects of Duodupa are infections, gut
crampings, unusual marks on skin, and depression. Other side effects are similar to other
Parkinson’s disease medications.
