Sleep Science:  When we sleep, our brain, among many other vital activities, clears toxins and harmful biproducts/wastes accumulated throughout the day.  One such toxin is amyloid beta, a harmful form of the amyloid protein.  When we deprive ourselves of sleep, our brains can’t clear the accumulated amyloid beta, and it starts to form plaques, thought to be a causative agent of the neuronal death that results in Alzheimer’s disease.  This is only one of the long lasting, even permanent effects of poor sleep hygiene.
