Welcome to Practicing Evidence Based Practice

AUDIENCE

This course was designed by Lauren Stephenson, MA, ATC to provide athletic trainers with a basic understanding of the foundations of evidence based practice (EBP). It is best suited for those who are looking to begin their use of EBP in their daily clinical practice and to enhance their skills in database searches.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to recognize the importance of using the best available evidence in their daily clinical practice.
  • At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to identify levels of evidence using CEBM and SORT scales.
  • At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to use PubMed to search the available literature.
  • At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to use PubMed to conduct simple subject searches.
  • At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to use PubMed to search by author.
  • At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to use PubMed to search by journal.
  • At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to identify and use Boolean search criteria to broaden and narrow searches.
  • At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to use PubMed to save searches for future reference & schedule alerts for those search terms on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

COURSE FORMAT

This course consists of eight short videos on content related to practicing EBP. Throughout the course you will complete three concept quizzes and will also be asked to conduct your own searches on topics of your interest. Once you have viewed all eight videos and completed the concept quizzes you will complete a cumulative final assessment of your understanding of the course content.

FEES

The course content is free and available for anyone to view. The fee for obtaining your EBP CEU certificate is $25 for 1.0 hour of EBP Continuing Education Units. You should pay for the course once you have successfully viewed all of the course content & completed the final assessment. You can submit payment by clicking on the Pay Now button.

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY

Since the course content is publically available you are free to view it at your leisure. When you have viewed the content and successfully completed the concept quizzes and final assessment you may choose to pay the $25 fee to receive your EBP CEU certificate. No refunds will be given once the certificate has been issued.
