Talks and Worskshops in Spring 2025

Xevi Camprubí (UA Barcelona), “Fuentes para el estudio de la imprenta y prensa en la Época Moderna en los archivos de Cataluña” (Archival Sources for the Study of the Printing Press in Early Modern Barcelona).

In this talk in Spanish (English subtitles available), Professor Xevi Campubrí (UAB) provides a detailed explanation of how documentary sources can be used to study early modern printing in Barcelona. He examines a range of Catalan archives and documentary collections that shed light on the production of pamphlets and books, the purchase of raw materials, and the processes of learning the trade. The Q&A session includes contributions from members of our department, along with invited scholars Professor Carmen Espejo (University of Seville) and Professor Javier Díaz Noci (Pompeu Fabra University).

Eulàlia Miralles (Uni Valencia), “Morir como un rey. Pácticas funerarias en la Edad Moderna”

On April 24, 2025, the THEM lab and the Institut Ramon Llull celebrated La Diada de Sant Jordi, Catalonia’s Day of Books and Roses, with a lecture by Laia Miralles (Universitat de València / University of Chicago).
