Project 4-Narrative Sequence- “My Journey to Stony Brook”:

“My Journey to Stony Brook”

For my Narrative Sequence I chose to take pictures of all of the different schools I have went to that have led me to Stony Brook. I have gone to a total of 7 different schools throughout my life, but the three I chose to photograph for this project were the three that I went to for the longest time.

St. Patricks School

The first school I chose to photograph was the St Patricks. I attended St Patricks for grades 1-5. In this school I have made one of longest friendships that I will cherish forever.

Hauppauge Middle School

The second school I chose to photograph was Hauppauge Middle School. I attended Hauppauge Middle School for grades 6-8. This school gave me a lot of different experiences and friendships that I would not have experienced if I had stayed in St Patricks for Middle School.

Hauppauge High School

The final school I chose to photograph was Hauppauge High School. I attended Hauppauge High School for grades 9-12. In High School I was apart of the Color Guard team, apart of National Art Honor Society, took Dance as an elective and was apart of the National Dance Honor Society. I am very grateful that I was able to be apart of these clubs all four years of High School.

I was inspired by Duane Michals Double Exposure photographs. The ones that inspired me the most were the ones of him with his family at his childhood home where he put the photograph of himself at an older age above. I chose to take different photographs from my time at each of the three schools and put them over the schools image. After I had all of the images on the schools image I then lowered the opacity of the photographs of me and my friends.
