For this project, I chose the children’s Picture Book, Secrets in the woods, author is Jimmy Liao, a picture book painter from Taiwan, China. this book brings readers a childhood daydream. In this story, the girl sleeps alone beside the window and spends a lonely afternoon in a beautiful dream. The dream’s colorful world is in sharp contrast with the cold and monotonous city in reality, which highlights the girl’s lonely and desolate mood. So when I design the cover of this book, I want to inject warmth into it. In terms of color, I chose a relatively warm color, which makes it easier for children to accept.

I use the iPad software (procreate) to draw some hand-painted patterns and elements and then use AI and PS to integrate them. The cover and back of the whole book are in different colors, but the structure is appropriate. In the middle of the book, I add some small elements to make the whole book look more lovely. I also use the same font in the font selection, and the corresponding color makes the whole look harmonious.
