The exploration of intimate relationships has always been an important theme in contemporary art. The artist Dang Jiahui chooses to use photography to present these abstract relationships and the emotions in them. She extracts the emotional fragments in the relationships and creates a colorful and private space.
Dang Jiahui uses relationships in the physical world, such as melting ice and crisscrossing lines, to reflect her strong emotions in relationships, Intimate relationship, on the other hand, focuses on one’s own family, defamiliarizes the daily life of the family with various visual languages, and presents multiple dimensions of family relationship. In view, self and being, the focus is back to self, further exploring the subjectivity of self in different relationships. Three series of works constitute this exhibition, showing the artist Dang Jiahui’s continuous and unique exploration of intimate relationships from different dimensions.
Intimate relationships tend to focus on the connection between individuals and others, while Dang Jiahui, on the other hand, looks inward from different dimensions of external relationships, reflects on the influence of these relationships on women themselves, and explores how they participate in the relationship. Whether it is family, friendship, love, or individual, these units constitute people’s cognition of social and cultural order. In the whole exhibition, on the one hand, Dang Jiahui’s works restore and even deconstruct the diversity and complexity of the relationship; On the other hand, from a subjective and introspective point of view, she breaks away from the expression of personal emotions or fragmentation and uses metaphorical visual vocabulary to reconstruct Abstract relationships.
