Lisette Model
Born in Austria, American photographer Lisette model was a street photographer who redefined documentary photography through her honest portrayal of humans. I found her book to be particularly interesting because it was a mix of her biography along with her work throughout the 1940s. I liked reading some of her quotes and seeing her thoughts that shaped her work. One of the things I found really interesting about her was that she did not have a good childhood and refuses to talk about it in interviews, but what she does say is that your early years do not define you. In other words, she made something of herself in adulthood and didn’t let her childhood define her.
