It can often be said that activist movements are never as epic or legendary as the history books write them out to be. But what if there was a way for activism to take place without putting oneself in any actual danger? What if with a single click of a button, an individual could flood an entire company with non-existent traffic, in regards to upholding justice and what is right? How far and how dangerous would this power become in the hands of an entire community, a culture that has been growing in the past few years. the group known as Anonymous.
Without any actual danger to their own lives, the members of Anonymous have successfully bought down unfriendly and unlikable public figures, and organizations. This new form of activism, is both scary and fantastic. The scary aspect of comes from the amount of power this group holds, the amount of change it is capable of bringing about, in a manner that is either good or bad. These capabilities that Anonymous posses is fantastic because it has such a simple approach, that anyone, and I mean, almost anyone can be a part of it.
What this power holds for the future, and whether this group goes on to bring about major change in society can only be measured with time. Activism is an organic process, and where the roots grow, is where the scales will weigh in the balance.
