I have finally figured out what it is I need to accomplish through this project. The general idea behind this project was to look a the change in culture, perspective, and media through art; as well as in art. Needless to say, the holistic view of the project leads me to discover that the medium through which art has been showcased has changed magnanimously, and at a rapid rate.
To give a simple and relate-able example, lets have a glimpse at the Renaissance as compared to our current culture. It is widely believed that during the Renaissance, the medium through which the artist set through his ideas and creative astute was far more important than the meaning behind the creation. The method behind, lets say, the painting was given more consideration and importance than what the painting actually meant or why it was painted the way it was.
In our Post-Modern culture however, we as the observers tend to wonder why it is the way it is. Why a certain color is used over another, or why the painter left a certain mark on the canvas, shifting our attention from the largest to the tiniest of details. We search for answers that may not even be there, and just be pointless, and fictitious speculations. But therein lies the beauty in art: it questions your perspective of the world, how you experience it, and how you perceive yourself within it. It allows you to take a look at the deepest, darkest secrets, or the unwavering and bright ideas that the artist wants to show his, or her viewer.
Through this project I want to explore how exactly the perspective of the observer as well as the relationship between the artist and the audience change. As well as, if there was any difference between the artists of our past, as compared to those of the future, what led to those differences.
