Title:

Shoot for the Stroop

Client:

The Scientific and Psychological Community

Objective:

To develop a program in which users can interact with software using speech to text recognition. While doing this, the users are tested on the Stroop effect where they are evaluated on their cognitive functions. In the first test, the users are shown different words with different colors per round. Their job is to speak so that the machine recognizes the word and evaluates how fast they replied. As the users get more involved in the test, the speed of the test gradually increases. If the user does not reply or says the incorrect color or word, the speed of questions is affected. This would be paired with a microphone and additional accessories (in the upcoming future).

This program could be displayed in schools that have psychological experiments, and can be used by anyone with a device with internet connection and a microphone.

Target Audience:

This experiment can be used on people of all ages, from young kids to the elderly. We aim for a audience that can speak English since it will be a program that will be using the English language. In the future when we have more development time, we could add a multi-language feature.

Psychologists are the primary target for our results, since it will be a unique way to test people’s cognitive abilities. People with Windows and Mac operating systems are able to utilize the program. A more interesting thing to watch out for is how the test results differ depending on the demographic.
