Author’s Word:
“I want to show the beauty of China and its people in different dynasties worldwide.”
Jing Hua Shui Yue, in Chinese it’s 镜花水月, it’s an idiom to show an imaginary scenery. I was inspired by the Chinese Exhibition: Looking Through Glass in Metropolitan Museum. Inside the exhibition, there are a lot of different clothing and properties from China being displayed for the audience and the visitors.
My thought on this topic is to share the beauty of the Ming Dynasty. I planned the location in New York Chinese Scholar’s Garden in Snug Harbor in Staten Island and invited a model who’s willing to collaborate with me on this final project. She participated in a lot of different Chinese cultural events related to Hanfu.
By combining the Ming dynasty Hanfu on the model with the Chinese Scholar’s Garden, styled based on the Ming Dynasty garden, I’m able to spread my Chinese culture through art and photography to everyone.
