Reflection on Dr. Karina Yager’s Presentation

The feelings of upset and powerlessness arose after listening to Dr. Yager’s presentation on the changes in glaciers in Peru and their subsequent impact on the local environment and people’s lives. It raises the question: what can we do to make a difference in the environment? While adopting a “green life,” an environmentally friendly lifestyle, is undoubtedly a positive step, it’s important to recognize that environmental change is not the only aspect of our daily lives undergoing transformation. (And, indeed, human activities are contributing to climate change.)

In reality, everything around us is constantly changing. Consider the example of looking at your hands and then looking at them again. Are the hands you see the second time exactly the same as the ones you saw the first time? The answer is no. Even though we may not perceive the changes, they are occurring. Dead skin cells are continually shedding from our skin.

The challenge we face is often our lack of awareness of the changes in our lives, or even when we are aware, we struggle to confront that reality. Our main problem lies in our difficulty in accepting and adapting to the changes in life.

How to deal with the issue I was talking about remains unanswered if we keep seeking the key outside. The answer lies in every act of calming the mind down. We will continue this topic after you give it a shot.

Now, ask me a question.

“苍天之气清净,则志意治,顺之则阳气固,虽有贼邪,弗能害也,此因时之序。”

“When the atmosphere of the heavens is pure, one’s will and intentions are well-governed. Following this, the body’s positive energy remains strong, making it resistant to external disturbances and ailments. This is all in accordance with the natural order of things.”
