Different, Not Less

Central

Children with autism at times get stuck on a certain item or topic. Something about that topic fascinates them and they turn the object of their affection and centralize that into their life.  I had watched a show with a child who had autism and was obsessed with dinosaurs. It always amazed me how much the kid knew about dinosaurs and knew every type of dinosaur. I was struggling to learn their names and spell them at the time. It was so easy for that child. He was different and not less. I felt less for not knowing anything about dinosaurs besides their names. I made an image in Photoshop to depict the obsession that kid felt and how he put dinosaurs into every aspect of her life. Kids with autism just have a different way of seeing things and they use their capacity for their own obsessions and interests.
