This artwork was created with Photoshop in order to show how people with prosopagnosia see others. The subjects face is made up of 10 different faces and are not her real features. I chose Prosopagnosia because I find it fascinating that people are born with this illness. Face blindness may result from damage or impairment in the fusiform gyrus, a part of the brain that coordinates the neural system which controls facial perception and memory. They usually have a problem with recognizing family members, partners, and friends. They focus on other aspects of people like how they walk or speak. The illness impacts their life immensely. They may not interact with people and they may develop social anxiety. With the piece that I make, I want to portray the confusion and frustration they may feel. There are two types of Prosopagnosia, developmental and acquired. Developmental is where a person has it without having brain damage. Acquired is where a person develops the illness after brain damage (a stroke or head injury.)
