Graduate Students

unnamed Akos Szekely is a fourth year Cognitive Science student, with a B.A from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He is co-mentored by Dr. Aprajita Mohanty and Dr. Rajaram. His research centers primarily on the neural and cognitive mechanisms of emotion/memory interactions, along with some emphasis on clinical applications.

Raeya Maswood is a third year Cognitive Science student. She received her B.A. in Psychology from CUNY Queens College in 2014. Her research focuses on the socio-cognitive processes of emotional memories as well as the social transmission of memory through social networks.

 

 

 

Nicholas Pepe (photo)Nicholas Pepe is a first year Cognitive Science student.  He received his B.A. in Psychology from Saint Joseph’s College and received his M.A. in Psychology from the Experimental Psychology Program at Long Island University.  His master’s thesis focused on the relationship between bilingualism and a person’s visuospatial and verbal working memory ability.

Yvonne Chanda is a rising senior at Stony Brook University where she is pursuing a B.S. in Psychology and Biology (Interdisciplinary), with a minor in Writing and Rhetoric.  Yvonne also serves as Elections Board Committee Representative for the Undergraduate Student Government and as Resident Advisor at Stony Brook University. Yvonne is interested in the questions about the influence of social interactions on memory that we are investigating in the NSF-funded, collaborative research project tinyurl.com/memory-transmit.
