TDIS / SBS

Super Big Bite

The Super BigBite collaboration operates several spectrometers in Hall A of Jefferson Lab. The experimental program contains a series of nucleon form factor measurements, deep inelastic scattering measurements and a measurement of tagged deep inelastic scattering called TDIS. The group is involved in the general SBS program, with some focus on TDIS.

Tagged DIS

The TDIS experiment will measure deep inelastic scattering, and tag the process by detecting low-momentum recoiling protons and neutrons, as well as pions. With this tagging, we can select the scattering process off the meson content of the nucleon, predominantly pions, the so-called pion cloud. This way, the nucleon can be an effective meson target. The experiment will allow the first determination of the π0 and kaon structure functions.
