Midterm Project
In the future, in order to compensate for an increase in human population mankind will need to reach beyond the Earth to find new settlement. Humanity shall construct artificial landscapes orbiting Earth known as Space Colonies as their answer to overpopulation of the earth. These colonies will be places in an orbit and be made with artificial landscapes, contain housing and have an artificial gravity through a rotational axis. With this plan in mind comes the additions of people from space having their own form of recognition, a co-dependency between the people from Earth and the colonies, and an advancement in interstellar travel.
Life in the colonies themselves would reflect that of Earth though with differences that differentiate the two. The colonies themselves would feature large panels that would open and close along the sides to indicate day and night as their orbit wouldn’t always coincide with the Earth’s day and night cycles. Transport ships would make periodic trip to the colonies to ensure they’re well supplies as weather is a phenomenon that wouldn’t occur within the artificial space. Though political tensions could arise and colonies could be damaged by various means, that doesn’t make the scenario of space colonization an impossibility, but one that would take hundreds of years to attain.
