For my final project I had a struggle attempting to figure out what I wanted to do. When I was looking at Simen Johan’s work with animals I wished to take pictures of birds but since they’ve been leaving for the season I decided to alter my view on one particular photo they took. Seeing one of their photos of birds camouflage themselves with a tree had me thinking of taking photos within the same vein as that approach. After viewing the works of Lui Boline and Art Wolfe I got my ideas on what to do in order to execute my idea. Integrating ordinary objects blending into the background of the photo in a way that subtle at first but then becomes more apparent when looked into up close. Lui used painting himself to blend with a background, while Art Wolfe utilized taking pictures at the right moment and angle to make full use of the blending in effect. Most of my past photography assignment were done spontaneously but I really wanted to work with a more arranged and fixed scenes for my final project. Unlike Lui Boline I don’t intend to paint any part of myself to achieve the blended in look but more so using objects natural colors. I have no concrete numbers on the amount of photos I wish to push out but it will be anywhere from between 6-8 photos. They’ll also be web based so they’ll range from 600 x 800 px to 1000 x 1200 px.
