Nintendo Switch Modification
How It Was Created
Software used: AutoCAD and Fusion 360
The Accessible Nintendo Switch Controller
The parts assembled together consist of the entire design together from the arm to the piece that will be held in the hand. The hinge piece of the top is where the two Nintendo Switch controllers will be slid in, and at that object the user will be able to hold it in one hand and control both devices with one hand. The angular piece goes down the user’s hand, to connect the cuff and the hinge together, and the cuff goes around the user’s arm to stabilize the design down against the arm.

We increased the number of shells to strengthen the hinge piece as we had to make sure that when the Nintendo Switch controllers were slid on, the hinge piece did not break and crumble. We 3D printed by laying the hinge piece flat on its side and builds it up from there. We paid attention to stress loads like the sharp corners on the hinge piece and angular piece, and because they break easily, we filleted the corner pieces. We added breakway supports on the hinge piece, due to how it was shaped and how the hinge was angularly built.
