My vision for the future is one where people that are hindered physically or psychologically can strive towards a better and brighter future. To convey this idea, I used a wooden staircase ascending to the sky with a person in a wheelchair ascending the stairs with an escalator being built underneath him over the staircase. The words lining the sky, the stairs, the escalator and the wheelchair represents the ideas that embody my vision. The stairs represent the physical, natural obstacles a person will have to face on their path. The railings are what can keep a person going on the path or deter them from continuing.
The escalator is a symbol of what a person can build to make their path less difficult to climb and allow them to progress despite their limitations. The escalator is incomplete to convey that a person must build and maintain their method to facilitate their path. The wheelchair doesn’t only represent physical limitations but also psychological and emotional limitations. To further convey this idea, I made the wheelchair partially faded to give the idea that it is metaphorical and literal. Lastly, the sky represents the height any person can reach. The words represent how it is the desired destination, but also provides the questions of what a person will find when they reach the sky.
My idea for the future is one where anyone can excel and reach their greatest potential. It is one where anyone can construct their ideal future by maintaining a strong will, working hard and keeping their head up high.
