UGC Week

Over the years, there have been numerous occurrences where I would have to participate in a group with other students or people. Most of the time that requires being put in groups happens in school. Teachers would have their students form groups nearby where their seats are and usually in my case, my friends would be a part of my group. It was always nice to end up with them because I feel comfortable working with familiar faces in the group. Even though I prefer working with people I am friends with, I am still okay with working with my other peers as long as the task is completed. I have not had many bad experiences working in groups. The worst it would come to is that we do not agree on something and just talk about it until we settle on an answer everyone agrees to. It never has come to a point where any real argument is involved within the group. Therefore, I would say I had pretty good experiences working in groups. One time I remember that I had to work in a group to teach elementary students about entrepreneurship and I was so grateful for being in a group. I was able to rely on them when I needed help in teaching the class. My experiences so far have no been so bad so hopefully in the future it says that way.
I like working with groups because you can share your opinions with each other and work together to come up with one conclusion you agree on. You can hear what others think on a certain topic and choose to agree or disagree with their statements. At other times though, I like to work alone by myself because sometimes when you are stuck with your friends in your group, no work is completed. Working in a group can be challenging because no one wants to focus on the completing the task and order needs to be restored within the group.

The ideal group for me would include my friends in it. Even though we may get off task at times, I would still prefer to work with my friends in a group. My role in the group would be the one that writes down everything discussed because I like doing that. I do not like to be the one that represents or talks for the group. If I had to be the representative of the group, then I would take on that role but other than that, I would like to be the one that takes the notes during the group discussion or record the answers the group agrees on. Usually, I would say I am the anchor that holds everyone together. I keep everyone in the group reminded that we should focus on the topic at hand and then after the assignment is completed, we can have social hour. Although sometimes I end up taking the role of a bystander, where I just listen to what everyone says and voice my opinion when I do not agree with something said.
