Tom Hussey, inspiration at first glance

Tom Hussey was the artist I chose to do a presentation. I chose him because I remember I was in high school when I first discovered his photos and became inspired to pursue photography. It was specifically his “reflections of the past” photo series that inspired me. I just thought  the concept was amazing and I wanted to recreate it. Eventually I took a photoshop class and recreated the same concept with my own artistic twist. But since I was only familiar with his reflections of the past photo series I wanted to look into some other projects he has worked on.

I stumbled across his own website and discovered he had 9 other projects. After I looked and analyzed all his projects I noticed a few patterns. The first thing I noticed was his portraits. Most of his photos were based on people whether they were posed for head shots or they were doing an activity like football or surfing. He has multiple projects that involve capturing people’s lifestyle. Some of his projects include “Six man football”, “Surfing”, “Triathlon”, “Texas cowboys”, and “Ice fishing”.

Another patterned I notice is he likes to play with exposure. He takes perfects clear and crisp portraits but also takes photos that are blurry, yet appealing to the eye. He is a talented artist that has a wide range of photo techniques but I believe his most impressive photos are is action shots that turn out perfectly clear like time froze for a few seconds.
