Untitled #1

24”x 24”

Oil on canvas

Abstract pieces typically have no evident representation and employ visual language of several elements such as form, shape, color, and line. While generating Untitled #1, I began to evoke multiple emotions in my mind and attempted to render them to the piece via the arrays and hues. The notion behind it was to generate a piece that started from a literal idea/image, and the viewer has to determine what the image represents and what emotions they feel. There is a slight departure from reality incorporated into Untitled #1. The reality is rendered in certain areas of the piece. It is also a separation from the physical world that we are used to seeing. There is a sense of surrealism in this design and is meant to be a critical thinking artwork. The colors are intentionally meant to be displaced. In the piece, we can see multiple visual elements demonstrated such as geometric and organic shapes, asymmetry, harmony, and interaction.
