Proposal: For my project, I would like to focus on colorblindness. In particular, those who were not colorblind at birth, but instead become colorblind later in life due to brain damage. This is called acquired cerebral achromatopsiaare . The cone mechanisms and discrimination of wavelength are still intact, but the ability to perceive colors is deficient.  I got my inspiration from The Case of the Colorblind Painter by Oliver Sacks and Robert Wasserman. What I found interesting was that Johnathan I. dreamt in washed-out and pale colors after the accident. I decided to do a series of photos where I take Johnathan’s quotes and try to photograph them and  a side by side comparison of photos in color and in black and white to try and express how we take color for granted.  As photographers making something black and white is an artistic choice, some people have to live their lives in such a way.
