About Us
A small group of dedicated individuals founded SBU Dance Marathon as a recognized student organization in Fall 2015. The goal of the Stony Brook University chapter of Dance Marathon is to raise money for our Children’s Miracle Network Hospital as well as to provide leadership opportunities to students. Working closely with mentors both on and off campus, the founding Dance Marathon committee and Executive Board seeks to bring the first official Dance Marathon to the Stony Brook University community and to inspire college students to stand for kids in need.

Dance Marathon Committees
Community Relations & Marketing: Responsible for contacting on/off campus organizations for collaboration for the Marathon and creating marketing/advertising materials for all events throughout the year.

Dancer & Beneficiary Relations: Serves as a point of contact between the SBUDM planning committee and our beneficiary: Cohen Children’s Hospital. This committee also serves as a liaison to the Dancers/participants by assisting Dancers in their fundraising efforts and providing encouragement during the Marathon.

Finance & Fundraising: Responsible for management of all funds entering through Dance Marathon throughout the year: during and prior to the Marathon. They are also responsible for efforts to fundraise overhead fees to finance the Marathon via sponsorship and fundraising events throughout the year and collection/tallying during the Marathon in preparation for the big total reveal.

Productions: Responsible for logistical and technological aspects of the Marathon as well as planning/management of all other SBUDM events throughout the year. Productions will also serve as the primary contact for on/off campus vendors.
