ARS 420 Studio Art Senior Seminar
Senior Seminar is an interdisciplinary seminar course for advanced studio art majors. It is designed for students who wish to continue study and/or work in the visual arts. In this seminar and critique course, students develop a body of work in their individual area of concentration. When possible, the course includes field trips and assignments of special lectures, panels, seminars, and other events and practices of the professional art world.
The course contextualizes art practice with critiques, readings and discussions, and examines issues in contemporary art. Students have the opportunity to synthesize research and practice into a major art project, including disciplinary writing, and public presentations. The course often culminates in a group exhibition in a public on-campus venue.
