  • LIBERATION

Liberation and history have always been topics that influence my work immensely. As an artist, I don’t have a method nor a style that I stick with consistently. Instead, I made it a habit to look more in-depth into injustice and situations that have unfortunately affected many people worldwide. The different scenarios of injustice flood my mind with questions and thoughts. In this time processing, I began to visualize how I would want to narrate these realities into a composition. Once an image repeats in my mind, I automatically know what type of material I want to use. My overall goal is to never complicate things with material or size, so I naturally pick the material that I have within reach. Each image consists of a pencil and or acrylic paint on white or beige paper. Most of my artworks that are on paper reflect my thoughts on how justice is greeted, seen, and fought for.

Also, the balance was something that I wanted to be transparent in this exhibition. My goal was to seek different ways for future possibilities in order to create a better future. This goal has been something I’ve pondered for years. The answer is in my wood constructions that implement an architectural and design perspective that embodies a new society. The change would allow more opportunities for low-income families while keeping in mind the importance of the environment and the true meaning of inclusion.
Overall, this exhibition is meant to represent certain aspects of my life while shedding light on the bigger picture of eliminating suppression and normalizing opportunities for all.
