“This is a self-portrait that I painted in April 2020, during the period of mandatory quarantine. I did it in front of a mirror to achieve a more direct and personal approach. My facial expression in the painting is depressed and sad, without any reference to a smile. This reflects my complex psychological feelings in this particular period and I wanted to highlight the effects of “staying at home.”
